What does this NAVADMIN mean to you? The Navy would like to see TA dollars spent wisely, and we couldn't agree more. Fortunately for our students, Coastline has already been on board with many of the policies established here. |

COASTLINE's Interpretation: |
AN INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN MUST BE ON FILE WITH THE NAVY COLLEGE OFFICE PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN ANY COLLEGE COURSES FUNDED WITH TA OR NCPACE. |
Your "EDUCATION PLAN," which we may have in the past referred to as your Unofficial Evaluation, was likely completed before you even decided to start with Coastline. This document is where we compare your military experience, CLEP/DSST testing credits and credits from other colleges to set you on a solid path to completing your associate's degree. You may provide this document prepared by our offices or one of our Site Representatives to your Navy College Office (NCO).Need an UNOFFICIAL EDUCATION PLAN (UEP) and need it quick? Contact our evaluation office immediately or go in and visit with your area Site Representative. We can put an Unofficial Education Plan in your hands, typically, in a week or less. |
THE INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN WILL FURTHER IDENTIFY WHICH COURSES WOULD BE BEST ACHIEVED WITHIN THE 16 SEMESTER (24 QUARTER) HOURS ALLOTTED PER FISCAL YEAR. |
Our UEP clearly defines which courses you need to take to be on the best and shortest path to attaining your associate degree. We offer several 8 week internet sessions per year and 12 week NCPACE courses, so Coastline has a course that is right for you despite your status. |
THOSE INDIVIDUALS ENROLLED IN EDUCATION PROGRAMS AS OF THE DATE OF THIS
NAVADMIN ARE EXEMPT FROM THE ONE YEAR REQUIREMENT, AND MAY CONTINUE RECEIVING
BENEFITS AS LONG AS THEY REMAIN ELIGIBLE. |
If you are already enrolled with Coastline then you've most likely completed your Unofficial Education Plan with us. Many of our students take advantage of this free service to determine how much of their military training and experience translates into college credit. At Coastline, we accept up to 40 credit hours of military training, CLEP/DSST testing and other college credits toward your degree. Often this only requires you to take a few courses with us. |
SAILORS WHO ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH
COURSEWORK SHALL MEET WITH NAVY COLLEGE COUNSELORS AND/OR ACADEMIC
INSTITUTIONS AND SHALL DISCUSS OPTIONS WITH THE CHAIN OF COMMAND OR MENTOR
BEFORE DROPPING A COURSE. |
Don't wait until it's too late and don't fail at your endeavors. We've always realized that it is very difficult to balance service to your country, family life and your educational aspirations. We didn't add a distance learning program and a military program and hope that it works for you. We were founded as a "college without walls" with a strong distance learning program and we design courses knowing that working adults have to multi-task to be successful in life, in career and in their education goals. Knowing this, Coastline has built multiple support structures ranging from admissions & records support to in-class academic support. For those circumstances where you absolutely have to focus on your Navy job and set your education aside, you may be eligible for an extension. Contact our offices, your instructor and your NCO as soon as you feel your coursework may suffer. Both Coastline and the Navy want you to succeed and we have the systems in place to ensure you do. |
Do you need a course from your current college but they haven't filed an Education Plan and now the Navy won't fund it through TA? Coastline can help. As an accredited California college that honors ACE recommended credits, our courses transfer into the broadest range of college degree programs. Our courses are accepted in the SOC Transferability Tables. If you're going to a SOC Network school, they can verify transferability of our courses to their programs. Check with your college to see if you can simply take that English 100, Psych 115 or Art 100 at Coastline and transfer it into your degree once your college gets your Education Plan on file. Remember, we can, typically, get you an Unofficial Education Plan in a week or less. In this way, you can stay on an uninterrupted path to your graduation. |
