Steps to Register
Below are the basic steps to completing the application and registration process:
- Step 1: Select Coastline as your GEM institution
- Step 2: Apply to Coastline
- Step 3: Register in your Courses
- Step 4: Apply for and submit tuition assistance authorization

Step 1: Select Coastline as your GEM institution
Designate Coastline as your GEM institution by initiating a Course Completion Package with us at the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) https://www.my.af.mil/faf/FAF/fafHome.jsp
Step 2: Apply to Coastline
All new students must apply to Coastline. Students who have had a break in enrollment for 2 semesters or more must re-apply.
- Prior to applying, you may wish to take a couple of moments to review the CCCApply Tutorial (wmv) that provides some important and helpful tips for completion of the application.
- Within the application, you will be asked to specify your intended major. If your exact major is not included among the list of majors, you may select "Military Occupation - Other" to indicate your pursuit of a military-related degree.
- IMPORTANT: Enter the code MIL1 on the Supplemental page of the online application which is your 4-digit program admission designator.
- New Students receive notification about their MyCCC account upon acceptance of their application. This normally takes approximately 2-3 business days from the date the application is submitted.
Apply Now. Applications must be submitted at least 3 business days prior to the registration deadline.
Step 3: Register for your courses
New Students
Complete the registration form and submit it to milreg@coastline.edu or fax it to (714)241-6270.
Continuing Students
Use the registration form or register online for your classes at MyCCC. From the "Military Student" tab, go to the Registration Tools box:
- Select "Add or Drop Classes"
- Select the Military/Contract Ed Term for the appropriate semester and click "Submit"
- To add a class to your schedule, follow the instructions at the top of the "Add or Drop Classes" page in MyCCC.
- After you select your courses, press "Finalize Add/Drop" and exit the screen.
- If you are paying with tuition assistance, do not press "Pay Now" because the system will ask you to make a payment. Exit the screen after selecting "Finalize Add/Drop"
- If you are paying online, select "Submit Changes" and "Pay Now."
Please note that online registration is not currently available for Learning Community classes or Speech C200. If you are registering in one of these classes, please complete the registration form.
All Students
A schedule of available classes can be found at our Courses Page and within the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) .
Students can register for courses through Coastline at any time during the registration window. Due to Air Combat Command (ACC) regulations, Airmen will have to wait until 45 days prior to the start of a class to add the intended course into their GEM plan in the AFVEC. After adding courses into their GEM plan, Airmen will be prompted to apply for TA..
Step 4: Apply for and submit Tuition Assistance authorization
- Tuition Assistance (TA) applications may be submitted online through your GEM plan, 45 days prior to the start of class, using the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC)
- Prior to applying for Tuition Assistance, you may wish to take a couple of moments to review our AFVEC GEM Tuition Assistance Tutorial that provides some important and helpful tips for completion of the application.
- Instructions for TA submission:
- Make sure the course name/number on your TA Authorization matches the course name/number on your GEM Course Completion Plan in AFVEC.
- Provide us a copy of your TA Authorization before the posted deadlines (see Academic Calendar). A copy of your TA Application is not an acceptable form of payment.
- Fax your TA Authorization Form to (714) 241-6270 or scan and email to milreg@coastline.edu
- Once we receive and process your TA, your account balance in MyCCC will adjust accordingly (processing can take up to 3 business days).
- Students will be automatically dropped from their courses for non-payment if TA is not received by the posted deadlines.
