- How does the textbook voucher work?
We have a seperate page that describes the textbook voucher program. You can visit the Textbook Voucher FAQ's here.

programs which are scheduled by Command.

with that person on a regular basis?

to support students in military programs. The military counselor
may be contacted toll-free at 1-866-4CCCMIL x16320 or e-mail militarycounselor@coastline.edu.
Coastline also has SOC specialists who provide SOCNAV, SOCMAR, SOCCOAST

to establish residency. This includes distance learning courses.
- Will courses from other colleges transfer into your partnership
school degree plan?
Yes. Coastline recognizes college credit earned at any institution
of higher education which is accredited by one of the regional accrediting
associations of schools and colleges as identified by the Council
on Postsecondary Accreditation. Guaranteed transfer of courses exists
with other colleges in the SOCNAV, SOCAD, SOCCOAST and SOCMAR networks.
- How will classes be delivered?
Most courses are CD/Internet. Other delivery methods will include
video, PDA, and independent study. Students who enroll in these
delivery methods interact with their instructors via phone, e-mail
or fax. Students take quizzes online, and take examinations by proctor
and/or online. Courses may also be supported with textbooks, written
materials, electronic bulletin boards and other support systems.
- Is there a placement test?
Placement tests are required prior to enrollment in an English
or Math class and are recommended for any student who plans to pursue
a degree from Coastline. It is recommended that students schedule
their placement testing prior to the end of their first semester
of enrollment at Coastline, and no later than eight (8) weeks prior
to enrolling in a Math or English course. Tests are administered
at worldwide locations via the Proctor Agreement process. Coastline
also accepts ASSET exam scores for placement into our Math courses.
For more information go to Math and English Assessment page.
- Do you have study guides for the courses offered?
Yes. All courses have student handbooks which are available on-line
(course website), on CD or in print to all students enrolled. In
some cases, student handbooks are ordered with your textbooks.
- Do I have to own a computer to do distance learning?
Access to a computer is necessary for the 8-week Internet courses.
- Does your school accept credits from foreign institutions?
Coastline is unable to evaluate foreign transcripts. International
students are encouraged to utilize the Credentials Evaluation Service
provided by the International Research Foundation, Inc. Although
the agency charges a fee for the service, the expense is usually
much less than repeating the courses at an American institution
of higher education. Coastline will accept the official evaluation
and will count the units and/or degrees toward the student's educational
program.
- Can I take CLEP and other tests for credit towards a degree?
Coastline recognizes examination programs and awards credit based
on the subject area and the individual's test score. The appropriate
number of units will be posted to the student's transcript upon
completion of 12 units at Coastline. CLEP scores will count toward
the Associated in Arts Degree under Option I. They will not count
toward Options II, III, or CSU or IGETC certification. A maximum
of 40 units can be awarded for all non-traditional course work which
includes CLEP and DANTES tests. Coastline accepts scores of 490
or higher for General Exams and 50 or higher for Subject Exams.
- Can I continue my degree while at sea?
Yes. Coastline offers courses through NCPACE for sailors while
at sea.
- How many courses can I take at a time?
Coastline recognizes 19 units as a maximum load during the Fall
and Spring semesters (this would equate to no more than 3 courses
per 8-week session (12-week SOCCOAST), and nine units during the
Summer session). Coastline discourages students from taking more
than two (2) courses per 8-week session (12-week SOCCOAST), unless
recommended by a counselor. Students who wish to carry units beyond
the maximum load must complete a "Petition for Overload" form.

A copy of the student's TA Authorization Form must accompany their
registration form. (excluding GoArmyEd students)

pm Pacific time, and Fridays from 8 am to 2 pm Pacific time. Just
