Under the Option I Degree Plan, Coastline has developed rating/MOS-related degree roadmaps guiding military personnel toward completion of an AA degree. Coastline awards credit hours for military training and experience, up to a maximum of 40, utilizing ACE recommended guidelines. Depending on a servicemember’s occupation and rank, awarded credit may fulfill the credit hour requirements toward a specific major or emphasis for one of our degrees.

Based on the Option I rate-related degree program, an A.A. degree may be earned upon the completion of 60 credit hours, with a minimum of 12 credit hours taken from Coastline, and fulfillment of specific requirements as outlined above.

While the Option I rate/MOS-related degree plan is designed for a student whose immediate goal is to obtain an AA Degree, additional general education coursework may be necessary for those who intend to pursue a 4-year degree. Once all requirements are met to earn the Option I AA degree, it is recommended that students continue to take additional general education courses at Coastline to prepare for transfer to a 4-year institution. Although, this option is primarily for students who do not intend to transfer, it may be used to transfer to some independent colleges. It is always recommended that you check with the transferring institution. For additional information regarding transfer planning, students may view the transfer handbook at http://www.coastline.edu/documents/TransferHandbook.pdf or email the Military Counselor at militarycounselor@coastline.edu
